- A 20 cell radial design custody facility delivered on a tight city centre site adjacent to the DHQ, replacing the existing suite to service the Barnsley area
- Demolition of existing suite, and underground tunnel, services diversions and temporary cell accommodation by the Police
- New hard and soft landscaping as well as public entrance to raise the quality of the public realm
- The mix of traditional and modern materials has provided a contemporary building which is a positive addition to the civic and public realm of the central location in Barnsley

The new custody suite and enquiry desk are long overdue. It’s part of a project to deliver new custody facilities for Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley and replaces the old suites that were no longer fit for purpose. They are great facilities and provide much improved conditions for staff and visitors.

Exeter Police Station and Custody Suite
A new base for 450 officers on the site of the original Exeter police HQ, including a new 40-cell, state-of-the-art custody suite.

A 50 cell suite, allows South Yorkshire Police to safely and securely process 1,200 detainees a year and save over £1.2m a year in running costs.
